National Weather Service Tampa Bay Area

The Tampa Bay Area National Weather Service office located in Ruskin is part of NOAA (The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The office provides weather warning and forecast services for 15 counties along Florida’s west coast from Cedar key south to Fort Myers and inland to Polk and Highlands counties. We are the source of tornado, severe thunderstorm and flood warnings, and issue a myriad of other weather warnings and advisories. We collect weather data and provide weather forecasts around the clock for aviation, forestry, marine, and public interests. Outreach education is a high priority because our warnings mean nothing if people in harm’s way don’t receive the warning or don’t know how to respond. Our website is http://weather.gov/tampabay.
